Formerly of Wellesley, MA Daughter of the late Edith ( Pottinger) and Donald Guild; beloved wife of the late John M. Haffenreffer, devoted mother and mother-in law of Phyllis H. Stetson, wife of the late Mike, of Cambridge, MA , Edith H. Herbeck and her husband Dale of Medfield, MA and John D. Haffenreffer and his wife Laurie, of St. Louis, MO. HAFFENREFFER, Priscilla Guild, born June 22, 1926, died on March 28, 2015 at her home in Newton MA . Formerly of Wellesley, MA Daughter of the late Edith ( Pottinger) and Donald Guild; beloved wife of the late John M. Haffenreffer, devoted mother and mother-in law of Phyllis H. Stetson, wife of the late Mike, of Cambridge, MA , Edith H. Herbeck and her husband Dale of Medfield, MA and John D. Haffenreffer and his wife Laurie, of St. Louis, MO. She is survived by her sister, Barbara G. Brow (the late Dix) of Coronado, California, sister in law Jean Haffenreffer (the late Frederick) of Needham, MA and sister in law and brother in law, Katharine and Robert Selle of Chestnut Hill, MA. She took great pride in her five grandchildren, Amy Stetson and her husband Jay Ryan, of Lincoln NE, Brett Simmers of San Francisco, CA, Christopher Haffenreffer and his wife Kate of St. Louis, MO , Lisa Haffenreffer of San Francisco, CA and Annie Haffenreffer of Chicago, IL and her three great grandchildren, Reid, Teddy and Ruthie Haffenreffer. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, cousins and fellow church members.
Priscilla loved taking longs walks in the woods or on the beach, having a good game of tennis, taking a brisk swim, tending her garden, auditing college classes, volunteering in her community, going to the opera and the study and teaching of the Bible.
A memorial service will be heldon Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 11:00am at Lutheran Church of the Newtons, 1310 Centre Street, Newton, MA Following the service, friends and family will gather in the church hall.
