Zenith Henkin Gross passed away on Wednesday May 17, 2017 at age 92 in Concord Mass where she resided at Newbury Court. Beloved wife and widow of Sidney G. Gross, daughter of Harry and Rose Henkin, she is survived by her children Kenneth H Gross, Lawrence Gross and Katherine Gross as well as her grandchildren Spencer R Gross, Sonya Thorne, Langdon Thorne and Julian Kuo-Gross.

Zenith Henkin Gross passed away on Wednesday May 17, 2017 at age 92 in Concord Mass where she resided at Newbury Court. Beloved wife and widow of Sidney G. Gross, daughter of Harry and Rose Henkin, she is survived by her children Kenneth H Gross, Lawrence Gross and Katherine Gross as well as her grandchildren Spencer R Gross, Sonya Thorne, Langdon Thorne and Julian Kuo-Gross.

Ms. Gross's career in journalism, public affairs, and non-fiction writing, spanned from her first job for the AP Wire Service in 1944 to the upper ranks of corporate public affairs for the RCA Corporation in the 60's and 70's. Supporting and mentoring young professional women was a key part of her civic engagements. She was also the author of two volumes of non fiction; "And You Thought it Was Over; Parents and their Adult Children," and "Seasons of the Heart, " which deals with the romantic lives of those over 60.

Mrs. Gross and her husband Sidney Gross raised their children in Tenafly NJ. They subsequently moved to Manhattan where Mrs. Gross lived until her she moved to Concord Massachusetts to be in close proximity to family. Block Island, Rhode Island was a treasured summer residence.

Zenith was an avid lover of poetry, theatre, jazz, literature, social justice, politics, good food, and an occasional cocktail, as well as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mentor and friend. She will be deeply missed.

Memorial Services will be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 West 76th Street , NYC, NY 10023 on Friday, June 23 at 12:00 noon.

Donations may be made In Memory of Zenith Gross to support the "Sidney and Zenith Gross Prize" awarded to undergraduate and graduate students at the NYU Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. The prize goes to a graduate and an undergraduate student who excels in investigative or enterprise journalism.
